Year 1 & 2

Year One

Children transition smoothly into Year 1, ready for a year of embedding core skills and stretching their ability, supported by an individual approach to each child. Children are encouraged to foster a thirst for knowledge. The children follow a variety of topics throughout the year offering them an abundance of experiences such as becoming Pirates, Knights and Explorers. Hands on, practical experiences continue to support the children to have a wide range of experiences to draw upon, whilst embedding the core concepts and skills needed. The woodland provides the perfect setting to develop scientific enquiry and problem solving, and the outdoor setting is used frequently to engage the children. Our curriculum offers an enhanced, balanced programme for every child, supporting them to reach their full potential and to be on a strong footing for the academic expectations ahead.

Year Two

By Year 2, St Neot’s children are ready to take on their role as the eldest in the Pre-Prep and are positive role models for their younger peers. They become confident in the St Neot’s Learning skills and are able to apply this to their learning. Children rise to the challenge of the academic expectations, whilst still benefiting from individualised approaches. Topic based learning continues to engage them through captivating, hands-on experiences whilst providing them with a knowledge and skills base for years to come. Children take the lead in Pre-Prep production’s, become more involved in charitable initiatives and are consistently challenged to build on their critical thinking and wider skills. In the final term, children eagerly anticipate their first residential trip. At this, they are able to apply the St Neot’s Skills and strengthen friendships through a variety of team building activities and adventure; well preparing them for their transition to Middle School.
